It’s Games time Wood Buffalo!

Wood Buffalo has submitted a bid to host the 2022 Arctic Winter Games and our community needs your help to make it happen. Let’s show the Arctic Winter Games International Committee we have the experience, energy and excitement to ensure these Games are a success. Pledge your support and mark your calendars, let’s bring the 2022 Arctic Winter games to Wood Buffalo!

The Arctic Winter Games are the largest circumpolar multi-sport and culture event in the world. The Games bring together a variety of cultures from the circumpolar north to celebrate our diversity, while promoting unity and cultural understanding.

If our bid is successful, over 2000 participants from Alaska, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Northern Alberta, Nunavut, Greenland, Nunavik (Quebec), Yamal (Russia) and Sápmi will travel to Wood Buffalo in the winter of 2022 for the Games. Accompanying them will be coaches, delegates, officials, families, friends, and other tourists.

Let’s show these visitors that in Wood Buffalo, we are not just living in the north, we are thriving in the north!

The 2022 Arctic Winter Games Bid Tour is coming to Wood Buffalo Jan. 15, 2019. Let’s welcome them with 3500 pledges of support and the traditional warmth of a northern community!
The Games promote an exchange of cultural values and relationships through friendly competition and social interaction.
